Surprised the dvd is an '18' when I checked in Tescos today.Additional footage or due to the extras ?.

I read something in one of the papers to the effect that the BBFC had 'upped' the rating for home video. Something they have not done in while.

Yes it's certainly unusual for the BBFC to do this now.In Tescos a lad around 17 was moaning as he'd seen it at the cinema, but couldn't buy the dvd now.

Video rating is a 15, so it must be the extras:

Reviews suggest the only extra is a short promo item called Mayhem Inc, but I can't find it on the BBFC database.

There were a number of complaints about a TV ad for the film (which bombed at the box office).

According to Amazon the cover has an '18' rating but then the product detail says '15'. But the BBFC have this down as a '15'.

Maybe its a mistake by the bdistributor. I can't find any press article on this so maybe I was mistaken.

Such a foolish thing to do. Just release it uncut at the rating it was given. Is that so hard? Do they like losing revenue?

Ill be picking this one up later in the week. Not suprised it bombed its hardly big box office material. Most people I know who have watched the film say its not that bad at all.

Your right Mark all copies carry an 18-Cert. Looked all over the cover I cannot find any explanation for this. Usually it states on the cover if the additional material is rated higher than the film itself.

Yes I checked & there was no explanation for the '18'.

The film leans more into the 18 category I think. Looks like the BBFC felt the 15 was a little lenient?.

I very much doubt the BBFC have upgraded the DVD to an 18, as they had already viewed the DVD and awarded it a 15. So as far as they are concerned the 15 was appropriate. So to award the DVD an 18 would mean waiting for the company to re-submit the work again which they haven't done, then having the 15 rated version and an 18 rated version available at the same time. The 15 rating for the DVD is legal as this is what the BBFC awarded it. So it would be pointless upgrading.

More likely the company stuck the 18 on the disc to try and sell more copies.

Companys normaly try to get a lower rating when seeking extra profits. I know Vimpco were noted for sticking 18-certs on films the BBFC rated lower.

Yeah they used to stick 18 on some of their PG films.

I don't think the distributor of Bullet wants to cut the film to get a lower rating but sometimes a higher rating makes it seem more appealling.

After watching the film I think its more of an 18-Rated film than a 15. Trust Vimpco to stick an 18-Cert on a PG rated film.

I think this was the reason too Mark; trying to appeal to the hardcore, oldschool action crowd.
