The simple fact is for a 12 certificate film in the UK, that scene was deemed inappropriate.


Personally I don't believe the BBFC would have cut it.

I saw it twice at the cinema and that scene certainly had the spear protruding from Phil's chest, I even remember thinking it was quite a violent shot for a 12A, not that I'd argue against its inclusion.

Interestingly, people keep mentioning the blade was removed, it can be seen on the outtakes there isn't a real blade prop, so in the uncut version it's presumably added in post-production, so it was left out rather than 'removed'. Just me being pedantic I suppose!

Disney are also coming under fire for the poor bare-bones release in the UK compared to the US release, commentary and extras left out. This was a certain purchase for me before I heard about this, great film that deserves a great release.

Fortunately I have the double disc US DVD to watch. I have to admit I can't even remember that shot, will check.
