The Killer Inside Me

Postby Luke » 01 Jun 2010, 16:31

I see the media already jumping on the bandwagon with The Killer Inside Me just because critics says its too violent. Yet again I'm sure its strong stuff but certainly no more so than many films already out. It's odd how some very violent and gorey films pass the critics whilst others get it in the neck. Just saw this briefly mentioned on the evening news so thought id post something here to see what others thoughts think about it.

The MPAA have given it an R "for disturbing brutal violence, aberrant sexual content and some graphic nudity." No word yet on whether or not it was cut for that rating, but I have a feeling it wasn't.

Thanks for the input guys, yeah the media love to hook onto a film now and again and try to bring it down. More often than not simply to fill their own news program or newspaper, making out they have morals by saying how sick a film or video game is.

Saw it on Friday. As usual, the violence doesn't live up to the claims made by various media scaremongers, although it is pretty ugly and brutal - but then, that's what violence is!

Nowhere near as graphic as Irreversible - think more the scene in the cornfield near the end of Casino.

Oh, and some corking retro opening titles, worth the price of admission alone!

When newspapers are low on stories targetung a movie is often a good filler. They have done this for years while ignoring some genuinly nasty films.

Chris Tookey liked it. 3 out of 5 stars.

I have. I thought it was an ok drama, very slow paced and plodding and the violence, although brutal, was overhyped by the media as per usual. Some good performances, the younger Affleck continues to show his acting chops and even Jessica Alba does a decent job.

Yes I thought it was plodding as well.

As far as the violence is concerned? Well for those who haven't seen it check the scene where Casey Affleck brutally beats up Jessica Alba. This is the scene the BBFC are referring to. I'm surprised it was given an R in the States, must have been cut. If not then passing this uncut and then passing Hatchet 2 with huge cuts just seems ridiculous.
