The only episode of the Eccleston series I know was edited for broadcast was one called "The Empty Child". A scene where Richard Wilson grows a gasmask from his face (makes sense in context!) apparently had the audio toned down to make it less graphic, originally crunching bone sounds accompanied the metamorphosis. Watching the scene as aired it does seem eerily quiet.
